  1. What inspired you to choose this concept as the central theme for CoMotion 2025? Design often emerges from life’s unexpected moments. For me, the inspiration for CoMotion 2025 came from the passing of my cat, Blackie. This event sparked a reflection on change and transformation, leading us to develop the concept Face, Choose, Become under the overarching theme, "Light the Way." We drew from the perspective of a moth, constantly drawn to light, symbolizing a designer’s journey. We face uncertainties, make choices, and grow through both planned and unplanned experiences. These unexpected moments, whether good or bad, become fuel for our creativity. They shape our path, illuminate our way forward, and, ultimately, serve as inspiration for future creators to continue expanding this ever-evolving creative network.
  2. Since the project talks about the process of growth and creation, how has leading this project helped you grow professionally and personally?

CoMotion has been a rare and invaluable journey for me, offering a fresh perspective as a director. Over the course of four months, working with a team of 40, I truly understood the importance of communication and conveying a shared vision. Unlike personal projects, this process involved no perfect choice or ideal outcome, but rather a constant search for balance between differing viewpoints.

This experience strengthened my concept development skills, enabling me to think deeply and shape creative ideas from the early design stages. I learned to rely on my team to bring the vision to life. Facing varying opinions, time constraints, and real-world limitations, I adapted, letting go of certain attachments. Overall, it deepened my understanding of design’s essence.

  1. What kept you motivated through all the challenges you encountered? What kept me motivated through the challenges was the collective vision of the team and the belief that we were creating something meaningful. My personality also played a role—my calm and easy-going nature helped smooth things over, though I know I need to find a better balance between this and a stronger, more assertive side. Ultimately, it was the mutual influence within the team and the sense of responsibility for CoMotion that drove me to push through and stay committed to this journey.
